I realize now that in my determination to wear things I had just bought to fashion week events last September I wound up throwing together boring looks that barely represented me. Sometimes the best pieces are the ones you know inside out. Of course, my hesitance to wear these wedges is not completely unfounded seeing as they were obscenely trendy when Balenciaga made the original for S/S 07. And then the leggings I just made two weeks ago, but my point remains. That, and I don't perform (i.e. dress) well under pressure.
QUICK UPDATE
Random pics from last week wearing a vintage leather coat I just got. I'm trying hard to stick to black, but the leather is really nice, and I like the longer cut.
EVERY ANGLE
Needed a lift last monday before going to Ecology so I threw on my favorite shoes. Wound up watching a movie in class about genetically modified vegetables, the patents put on them, and the farmers unfairly extorted by big companies. It was pretty disturbing, but by the end of it all I wanted was some good Mexican food (Mexico was highlighted at the end of the movie; definitely my favorite ethnic cuisine).
LAST NIGHT
So yesterday I finally had a chance to try on the hats from the twentyten's spring collection. I assumed they were going to look supremely unflattering on me, but I instantly fell in love. I borrowed the one pictured below and wore it to the Germs party at Europa. Really, other than the hat there was nothing different about what I wore - which brings me to why I often dislike Halloween: people assume I'm wearing a costume. Wrong. No, I'm not dressed as a Sith Lord, but I actually take that as a compliment, so okay.
Someone mentioned the hat looked like a rooster's crest - or I should say, they mentioned that prior to someone carrying a rooster into Europa. It was really well behaved (and adorable in a strange way) so I couldn't resist getting a shot with it.
