LONG DAY, LONNNNNG POST

Normally, I'm just waking up about now on Saturdays.  Today, well, I never woke up.  I took an hour long nap last night before going to a friend's apartment for a party where it was just sophomore fashion students.  Not sure why this hadn't happened before.  We guzzled sangria while watching Spice World, Vagina Power, and a much needed dose of late nineties pop including one of our (male) peers performing the entire dance routine to Britney Spears' Oops I Did it Again and Christina Aguilera's Dirty.  It was pretty awesome.  Eventually everyone left but five of us and we talked till sunrise about surprisingly serious topics.  I would've been long gone by 3AM if I hadn't taken some of my friend's adderall.  I wound up leaving at 8AM only to hop on a train into the city to get fabric swatches for a class assignment.  After accumulating a mass of spandex, mesh, and assorted knits (for an activewear assignment) I went to Zara.  To my surprise they still had the Balmain knock off jacket.  For the price, it's pretty amazing, so I might go back and get it later this week (cross your fingers it doesn't sell out by then).  Then I called Elizabeth so we could meet up in Soho and get tacos at Pinche Taqueria at Mott and Prince.  Liz is from Texas, and I'm from Tennessee so we both have a strong appreciation for good Mexican and she had been raving about this place for some time.  Verrrrry delicious tacos covered in guac with spicy salsa.  After that I stopped by Prada to check out the shoes.  The calf high waders are beyond gorgeous in person, and the studded pumps, boots, and sandals were, of course, great too.  I kind of cracked up when two SAs complimented my shoes (they're Steve Madden) and socks.  On that note, I have never worn socks with sandals before - it's a fine line between geriatric and eccentric - but I think the similar shades of brown worked out really well.

Really hoping this won't sell out before I can go back and get it..

And back to my own clothing.  Yawn.

SIMPLE

I realize now that in my determination to wear things I had just bought to fashion week events last September I wound up throwing together boring looks that barely represented me.  Sometimes the best pieces are the ones you know inside out.  Of course, my hesitance to wear these wedges is not completely unfounded seeing as they were obscenely trendy when Balenciaga made the original for S/S 07.  And then the leggings I just made two weeks ago, but my point remains.  That, and I don't perform (i.e. dress) well under pressure.

QUICK UPDATE

Random pics from last week wearing a vintage leather coat I just got.  I'm trying hard to stick to black, but the leather is really nice, and I like the longer cut.

EVERY ANGLE

Needed a lift last monday before going to Ecology so I threw on my favorite shoes.  Wound up watching a movie in class about genetically modified vegetables, the patents put on them, and the farmers unfairly extorted by big companies.  It was pretty disturbing, but by the end of it all I wanted was some good Mexican food (Mexico was highlighted at the end of the movie; definitely my favorite ethnic cuisine).
